— And your biggest realisation
since starting Lissome?

“When I started my journey into exploring a healthy future of fashion, I set out on my own, with no preconceived plan but full of curiosity to learn. On my way, I’ve met many kindred spirits, smart and sensitive people who care, change makers and trailblazers, and it’s through these encounters that I am hopeful that creating change is possible.”
— What do you think
the future of fashion
looks like?

“I think it very much depends on the decisions we make in the coming few years whether we will co-create a hopeful future for the many or see a global dystopia unfold. Naturally, the looming threat of climate breakdown is deeply entangled with the overproduction and overconsumption of fashion.

I see this moment in time as a wake-up call and as an enormous opportunity to co-design a better world. By moving towards renewable energies, and new regenerative models of infrastructure and transport, economy, manufacturing, agriculture, and housing, we have the chance to build a compassionate and caring world for all.

I believe that meaningful relationships make us thrive as human beings and this goes beyond the relationships we have with friends and family. It extends to the relationships we have with activities that bring us joy, as well as the longstanding connection we develop with carefully selected material possessions. I hope that the future of fashion will be guided by this notion, and that we will see the emergence of a strong sharing economy, the re-appreciation of craftsmanship, restoration and repair, and the move away from homogenous global fashion corporations towards a diverse range of thoughtful local designers and makers. There is a real beauty in this thought.”
